Riley made a new friend today! Her name is Kili, and they hit it off so fast... I had never seen two dogs just sniff and then start play bowing in an instant. They wrestled for a good 30 minutes, too, until they were both so tired their wrestling just became a game of leaning and propping each other up.

After the walk, Cooper was more than ready to collapse...

So we took naps..

Awakened by Morgan and her rowdy Wii game, we went outside while I finished watering plants...

Maggie kept stealing Kila's toys and bringing them downstairs to play with on the grass (which she had no intention of letting me mow, she was having too much fun burrowing in it ; )

but her favorite play item was that palm branch, which she entertained herself with for a looong time... she fetched it, tore it apart, threw it up in the air or just carried it around.

After I told her to stop digging holes (I let her at first, she wasn't destroying anything : ) she sat there and just stared back... I think she was waiting for me to give her permission to do it again...

Today we had a long walk! I completely lost track of time and only noticed how far we'd gone after Saul started laying down on every patch of grass we came across. Poor kid was tired! So I picked the (not so) little (anymore) boy up, and Lilly was more than happy to run all the way back home with me! Her sprinting is so cute I almost fell on my face (looking down and giggling like an idiot makes one lose track of where the sidewalk begins again).

Fun Friday! After Maggie and Cooper's walk, I took care of my next appointment. Lilly and Saul always have so much fun together, it got me thinking that Maggie and Lily would hit it off great, so I should bring her and Cooper over to Playa Vista to meet... theeeeen I thought of something even more fun... bringing Maggie's BFF Pixie along, too! Not only did they all have so much fun, it was awesome to watch....

Maggie was so confused as to who to play with. On one side she had Pixie, then on the other Lily. She'd bounce around back and forth between the two, and when she would wrestle with one, the other would try and interrupt! Everyone wanted to play with Maggie... she has enough energy to go around, so that is not a problem at all... I didn't see her turn down a single invitation to play; even when she'd take a break to lay down, if any other dog came close she was back on her paws and ready for action. Oh, and tiny Clover ran after them this entire time, except for like maybe 10 minutes he spent exploring the park with Cooper and Kila.

Cooper and Kila hung around and explored the far reaches of the park together, then laid in the shade. It's a perfect little companionship.

Pretty soon they all dropped like flies, and we headed on home.

The ladies had their walk-and-explore date, then some park time... I saw Haley take interest in another doggie at the park for the first time! She usually follows me and sniffs around. Not that she's completely anti-social at all, she says hello to the other doggies, then resumes doing her own thing... but today she was hanging out with a little brown beagle who was just as mellow as her. Lily of course made friends with every dog there, and had the people trying to get her to fetch fetching the ball themselves... I told them not to expect her to bring it back every time, but they kept trying! So funny... she'll bounce off after the ball, get to it and sniff it, then leave it right where it landed and come back to whoever threw it, as if asking them to do it again...

Great day! Woke up and played for a little after breakfast, then later we went on our usual walk... it was overcast and breezy out, which I'm sure Cooper was enjoying ; )

In the late afternoon we played some fetch, went for a walk, then played some more. Maggie and Clover have not stopped playing since I got back...well, more like Clover keeps chasing her around the house! Cooper barks at them every once in a while, as if telling them to settle down (he's trying to nap).

As of right now, Cooper is snoring and drooling on my sweater, and Clover is growling at Maggie from under the couch, running out to get her, then running back under. Soon enough they'll be snoring too!

Maggie and Cooper had a teensy Yorkie friend at home today! He was the cutest, running around my feet like crazy! He was very interested in Kila... probably because he's been hanging around Maggie and Cooper, which makes him feel reeeally tiny. So we went outside for some play and potty, then we left the little one behind while we went for our walk (tried to bring him along using a harness for Kila I had in the car, but he didn't like being on a leash very much!).

Brodie automatically greets me by coming up and laying on her back for belly rubs! Lexi barked while I was opening the door, but stopped as soon as she saw me... yay! Had a leisurely walk today, let them sniff around, then jogged a little. As soon as they get home they retreat to the yard and lay out... so cute.

Haley and I had our first solo walk today! So relaxed. She's so zen. Met me at the bottom of the stairs, and only barked once or twice. Her tail was wagging when she saw me holding her leash though! She seems confused every time I walk her in a direction opposite her house and is always trying to lead me back, but when I turn in the opposing direction and she realizes, she runs after me happily!

Today I tested out Saul on a leash for the first time... he did great! He just follows Lilly everywhere anyways, but now its much safer... I have noticed him getting more curious... it gets harder and harder to keep him in the bag during our walks! Yesterday he whimpered the whole time, squirming and trying to jump out... don't worry Saul! Soon you'll have all those pesky shots out of the way!

Before heading out, Maggie made two new friends. One was a little Chinese Crested, the other a Mini Pin.. Maggie runs after them, they bark at her to stop, and she just lays down. So cute. I wish they understood she just wants to plaaaay! Then once we were outside she made another friend. A little yellow lab even younger than her! It was sad having to separate them to continue our walk because they both whimpered as they walked away. Then Maggie decided to pick up everything she could grab as we walked. Sticks, oranges, rocks, pine cones, you name it, she picked it up.

The ladies and I had another perfectly easy walk around the neighborhood today. Lexi made much less of a fuss about my arrival and became a happy, lovey doggy almost instantly. Brodie didn't seem to want to go for a walk at first (stopping after a block and trying to head home!), but all it took was for me to say her name in a disapproving tone and there was no more hesitating!

Picked up Haley for our walk today, and instead of making me come find her, she met me at the foot of the stairs... awesome, even tho she barked! We spent half our time together in peace before heading over to pick up energetic Lily... true to her nature, Lily jumped everywhere as soon as I opened the door... ran up the hall, down the hall, licked Haley's face... I have a Lily pawprint so high up on my chest I'm still wondering how it got there... We made our way back in Haley's direction and stopped by the park to run Lily around for a bit, then walked over to Haley's, practiced some tricks, then Lily and I continued our walk at a calm pace.

We had a nice walk today! Maggie walked by the school without cowering at the sound of screaming kids, and Cooper got his collar off to go push a dog who was going crazy barking at us from behind a fence completely over the edge... Cooper "escaped", walked lazily to stare at the dog as it went nuts, then peed on both sides of the gate... all this in his usual manner (slow, smooth, and collected).

The little ones ate their meal (Saul just vacuums it up! Crazy how fast he ate the patty) and we still had a little time to go outside. Ran around for a little, and I saw how picky Lilly is about stepping in puddles! There is NO WAY she'll put her foot in... Even if the puddle is more of a wet spot she'll jump clear over it! Saul played with my socks and tried to hide one from me... I think it was his way of saying "don't go"... Aww, I'll be back soon!!

The ladies are doing fabulous of course. This morning they got an extra long walk, then I went out to walk my other doggies... when I returned they were so insanely ecstatic to see me it was almost as if I'd left them for days! Daisy had jumped out of her pen, but didn't destroy anything. That's a good girl! We went out to the lot for our usual fetch time, and some friends joined us! Daisy met her match today... another fuzzy furry doggy, just her size, too! It was so cool to see them play... at times they were chasing each other so fast it was hard to tell them apart... all you could see was hair.

So happy to see Pixie today! We had a great walk, played tug of war with her leash as usual, and then headed to the park because I had some free time! We saw the Great Dane from last week, and while she ran around with him for a minute, she was kind of tired. So after some sniff greetings with a few other dogs, we headed home.

Haley and I met first today. We walked on over to pick up Lily... when we got there, we saw the mess Lily had made, and knew she had tons of extra energy to burn!

So out we went. It's so great how relaxed Haley makes Lily! She walked behind Haley the whole time, not once veering or chasing after anything. Haley's influence is awesome! After potty breaks, we headed on over to the park, and Lily ran around with the fluffiest golden retriever I've ever seen. Haley chose to follow me around and explore the holes other dogs had dug up instead, and watched the other crazy pups prancing from side to side chasing each other.

Molly n' Daisy's First Day 3/3/10

These ladies have been sooooo good... well behaved, and playful at all the right times! After being dropped off, they settled right in. We went to pick up my boyfriend from school, then came back and they hung out with him while I went to walk all my other doggies. When I came home, we got some tennis balls for Molly and went out to the big empty parking lot behind my house to throw them around. While Molly and Kila played and played, Daisy explored some daisies : ). Then Kila got tired, but Molly will never quit! She's a good air catcher (we threw it up really high and she'd catch it every time; her skills are pretty impressive).

Today they both came along for my walks and met Maggie, Cooper, Lily, Bandit, and Marlee! Super exciting! Daisy was a little overwhelmed by Maggie's adorable friendliness at first, but I walked them together and then it was Daisy trying get Maggie to play! They took a break with Kila while I walked Saul and Lilly, then it was time to head on over to Playa Vista. There Daisy ran her little heart out while Molly wandered around exploring. We've noticed when there's other dogs around she doesn't really play fetch... she'll go get it but never quite brings it back because she gets distracted. However, once we got home it was back to the parking lot to throw the ball around and get all the fetching she needed done! Daisy and Kila were so pooped they just laid there... funnily enough, while Kila laid in the grass, Daisy just parked herself right on the pavement.

They're all napping now ; ).

Of COURSE these three had the time of their lives, but then again when don't they? Rounded up the three of them for our walk, then headed over to the park to meet up with Molly, Daisy, and Kila! Lily and Marlee ran and ran and ran around in circles for a while, and then Daisy joined, and then Bandit got in on it too. They were crazy! When I thought they'd had enough, we headed out... but apparently it was still too soon, because Marlee and Lily started to chase each other again! They really just can't get enough of each other!

The little ones had a great walk today! Everyone stops and comments on Saul and Lilly... even some men working on the drainage by Maxella Ave. took a moment and called the guy inside the grate out so he could see how cute they are! Lilly barked at them first, but she loved the attention, and I think Saul just thinks its so fun when people are talking about and to him in a baby voice... maybe he's laughing at us "simple humans"being silly... HAHA!

Maggie and Cooper met Molly and Daisy today. At the beginning, Daisy was terrified by Maggie's super friendly demeanor but after 5 minutes of walking side by side (and Maggie peeing all over the sidewalk, as if saying "please be my friend, I'm sooo nice!") they became friends! We walked to the park, and there it was all about the ball fetch for the first couple of minutes (for everyone except Cooper, who decided to walk on over to the mud puddle from last time, thank goodness it was dry) until Maggie spotted a little hyper dog called Strawberry... wow. Those two ran around Strawberry's owner for the rest of our time there! Cooper and Kila explored the park, and Cooper watched as she rolled in different spots before moving on. I thought he'd do it too but never did... too bad, because it would've made a great pic!

After our walk, we passed by the little park by Haley's house and there were a few dogs, so we swung in to say hi! Haley just followed me and sniffed a little while Lily ran around and burned off the energy she had left with a little dog who wouldn't stop licking everyone else at the park!

Lilly once again had me laughing the whole walk - or shall I say sprint... she kept running left and right and front and back and around and... yea... she was going craaazy. She'd sniff one thing and sprint to the next... but it was more of a prancing sprint... can't describe it but it was hilarious (maybe I'm an easy crowd ; ). Saul impressed me with his obedience... for his potty/leg stretch break he got to run around a nice lawn. The owner of the house came out to comment on how impossibly cute these two are, and Saul took the opportunity to run into her house... well, almost! One quick "no saul, come" and he was running back to me!

While today was nowhere near as interesting as yesterday, it sure was a fun relaxed walk. Maggie and her leash manners are really holding up, and I couldn't be happier about it! We passed by some not-so-nice dogs that were growling and barking as their owner struggled to hold them back, and while Cooper totally ignored, Maggie (who will usually run to the other side of the path) walked calmly and stared at them like "what's YOUR problem"... very nice.

Staring intensely at the gardener...

Lilly and Saul always out-cute themselves (yes, it's possible)... today I let Lilly out of the pen, and she ran over to her cushion by the window while I let Saul out. When I approached, the little sweetheart turned over and even closed her eyes so I'd give her a belly rub! I was laughing and tearing up it was so darn cute! We went on our usual stroll, and said hi to Pixie and Kila (who were resting with my boyfriend after their romp with Maggie and Cooper). Passed by a house where they were mowing the lawn and little Saul almost had a heart attack! He was so afraid of the noise the weed whacker made when it went through things... but we worked on that... the gardener had turned it off when he saw how scared Saul got, then we went up to him so he'd say hi to Saul. I asked the gardener to please turn it on and continue so Saul could see there was nothing bad about the loud noise... we stepped back, and this time Saul was curious and just stared at the guy as he continued the yard work! Yay!

Anyways, when we got back home Lilly laid down outside in the sun and didn't seem to want to get back inside... she asked me for a few more minutes to work on her tan :)

Bandit n' Marlee Meet Pixie and Lily for a Walk and Some Park Time! 3/1/10

WAAATEEEER!!!

Lily hiding the ball from Marlee, and staring at her... she'd come close and Lily would grab the ball and run to the other side! When Marlee got it she'd do the exact same thing, it was sooo adorable.

Lily already knows her way to Bandit and Marlee's... She was so excited to see them she ran straight into the glass pane that separated them while I got B+M's leashes to let them out!

Pixie came along for the Playa Vista crew's walk, too... and they had a great time. She was pretty tired after running around with Maggie all morning, but she watched as the three of them had a blast and even joined to run around with Lily and Marlee for a while before plopping down in the shade.

Bandit was all about sitting in my boyfriend's lap with Kila today, and only got super playful once the park time was over and he started trying to wrestle Marlee... I think he was getting jealous she'd been playing with Lily the whole time! Regardless, they were all great. Marlee and Bandit have started to realize we only go to the park after their potty breaks, and now they go pretty much right when we step outside, which pretty much tells me they don't wanna waste a minute!

WOW was today interesting! I saw Cooper all riled up and excited to play with another dog, running around and even poking him to play some more! Big Red's owner was impressed too, because she said most other dogs ignore her super high energy doggie... but I'm guessing the play excitement was contagious, because Cooper loved him!

Then for the second love story of the day, Maggie and Pixie became besties in a matter of seconds... Maggie laid down for Pixie to sniff her, and they didn't stop playing the rest of the time they were together... Pixie was sad when I took Maggie inside, and Maggie whined from inside so she could go back out to Pixie! Broke my heart, but I promised them they'd get to hand out again soon!

As we were leaving the park, Cooper decided it would be a good idea to take a mud bath... he almost completely laid down right before my eyes, and I shrieked so loud everyone in the park was laughing (it wasn't just water in the mud, it was a MUD pool). My frantic cry was enough to get him out of it, but soon enough Pixie followed and stepped right into it, then came Maggie... and they started to play IN the puddle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Geez....

Needless to say, we had too much fun.

Pixie 2/26/10

Since Pixie had so much fun at the park the other day, we decided to head back over and see who was around we could play with. Pixie hit it off with two mutt mixes and they ran each other around (their owner was tossing sticks which they'd all run after) and take turns hiding out in holes only to come out running after whoever came close to their hiding place. Once back home, Pixie was waiting veeeery patiently at the bottom of the tree to see if the squirrel she chased up there would come down... it was hilarious. When the squirrel moved out of her sight, she'd get up, move to where she could see it again, and sit down to continue waiting...

Lilly was a lot less hesitant to leave the front of her building today... she followed me all the way across the street without stopping (our first few walks she'd start doing her "potty spins" out front and then it took some coaxing to get her to follow me)!! Saul had tons of fun exploring this little hill and the tall grass at the bottom... it was so high in parts they were all completely submerged!

We had an awesome walk today! Everyone was keeping up with my fast pace for the first half, then we strolled and I gave them some time to sniff and explore. We walked by the school and worked on Maggie's skittishness around throngs of screaming kids, and they made friends with the cutest bulldog puppy!

Pixie was excited about her walk today and couldn't wait to get out the door. As usual, she scanned the yard for the squirrels that run away as soon as she comes out and we headed to the beach. The boardwalk was reeally crowded so we walked through the grass while enjoying the sunny weather. Around the middle of our walk, Pixie froze up... there was a squeaking bike that sounded like a hurt pup... I think she was looking for it so she could come to the rescue!

Upon heading out for our walk today we ran into Lady, a pitbull puppy about Maggie's age. They wouldn't stop running each other around, and Lady's owner asked us to come along to Maxella Park. Of course! There everyone had tons of fun running and playing, exploring and making new friends. Cooper ran after balls being thrown by the tennis players only to grab them and then put them down... not much of a fetcher but he liked this game!

Pixie went to the park today! Made friends with a big black pup named Traveler, as well as a gigantic blue Great Dane whose name I didn't catch, but he was HUMONGOUS... made Pixie look dainty while they ran around! We'd brought along the palm branch section leftover from yesterday, but Traveler took off with it the first chance he got. He played keep away for a while, but then decided fetch was funner... hmm, who's faster? Truth is they were tied, plus I think Pixie might have been letting him win : ).

These guys always have such a good time together... maybe its because they're just all individually so playful, but its really nice to watch dogs that actually want to play with each other at the park! They ran each other around and of course Bandit had to be the one in charge of whatever game they were playing or he'd make everyone stop. So funny how he does that with a growl. Marlee would pick up a stick, then try and chew it under the bench but Lily would come and take it... Lily would drop it as soon as Bandit came near, and she'd pick up another one and parade it ever so discreetly in Marlee's face so she'd chase her again. Lily was sad when we dropped Bandit and Marlee off across the street, but I explained that next week they already had a few dates set up!

Lilly made me laugh so much today... I happen to think she's hilarious. I picked her up out of the pen first, turned around to get Saul, and she was nowhere in sight... I called to her, still nothing. Then Saul led me right to her... little princess perched on a cushion, and as soon as I approached she flips on her back for a belly rub! It was so adorable! We had an awesome walk. Saul actually did all his "business" outside on the grass too! As soon as I saw Lilly going, I put him down and he totally followed her lead. Very nice day.

I really think Cooper might have a crush on Kila... and it's mutual. They're complete opposites in every way (black/white, slow/speedy, big/small) but lately I just see something in their eyes... HAHA! sooo cute... Kila NEVER falls behind on walks, but she's definitely walking slower lately.

Again today Cooper followed her around while Maggie played with me and her leash.

The teensy crew was ready for their walk today! We found the cleanest and nicest grass to hang out and put Saul down for a bit, and I noticed how picky Lilly is about where she "goes" (she went around in circles so much her leash would get completely wound up!). My sincerest apologies for the mass post.... but yes, I'm going to bed at 5pm!

Everyone was so great today! I'm starting to believe the dogs can sense when I don't feel very good, because they behave better than ever. Maggie had no need to jump on any runners or chase any birds or leaves, Cooper walked easily and without stopping to "sniff" every corner (I swear sometimes he stops and fake sniffs just so he gets a break), and Marlee and Bandit didn't try and drag me out the gate (they don't if I make them sit, but I didn't even practice their "sit" before I opened it today!).

Saul and Lilly cracked me up every 5 minutes (I just can't get over their teeny-ness and how cute they are), and Pixie's happy energy rubbed off on me enough to run around with her for a few minutes. Geez!

This is our usual break spot; a broken sprinkler the kids can always count on for a drink! Cooper can stay there forever if I let him, and he'll really get in there too... All paws in!!
